Serving Those In Need

We are going to serve the Dvorak family in their orphanage home in which they have 17 children and 7 teens. The following are areas we will be serving:

Service Project – This is a manual labor/work we do on the homes grounds to help them take care of their facilities (painting, sanding, cement work, landscaping, etc…). Woodie the hot water heater will be installed along with a structure to keep it protected. We will also be installing a cyclone fence and our carpenters Jeff and Jason have a project to build a bench in the courtyard.

Youth Care – We will be assisting Becky Dvorak and the children’s caregivers with bathing, feeding, playing and general care of the young children. Our focus is on 4 bible lessons including Joseph and God's continued care, Jesus' birth, the lost sheep and Daniel in the lions den.

We will be helping the school age children while they are in school (there is a school on the grounds) with school work and crafts.

Men will be mentoring with the teen boys nightly.Sports – structured sports program with teen boys daily.

Community Children’s Program -We will provide a children’s program Sunday afternoon when we arrive at the home for local children (4-13 yrs old). Our theme is Jesus is the light of the world - Jesús es la luz del mundo.

We made it!

Hola,
God has blessed us beyond measure AGAIN! I am not surprised, I am full of praise for his plans that blossom when we are obedient and trusting. We arrived in Guatemala City and so did all our luggage! David Morales and his sister Karen, her husband Froilan and son Steven met us and rescued our "American selves". I felt like a deer in the headlights stepping out of the airport into the Guatemalans waiting for their friends and family. We drove through Guatemala City where there were many stores with iron gates on the doors and windows and occasional men with guns who are private security guards hired by the store owners. There were people selling flowers and snacks along the way also. We headed out of the city a bit and into the city of Mixco, where we are staying a few houses down from Karen and Froilan.

Our place of residence for tonight and next Saturday is a beautiful Haven where our hosts are missionaries here at a local seminary. They are gracious and kind and there is a wonderful presence of peace and spirit in their home and our accomodations. The guys are housed in quant qaurters like a bunkhouse in a resort out west and the ladies in a brand new, we are the first to stay there, resort like building area where there is a soft breeze that comes in the open aired living room. It will be wonderful to return here at the end of our trip to share all the other amazing things God will be doing in our lives while we are here serving him. I will try to send photos and many thanks to all of those praying, "do not be anxious about anything but with thanksgiving present your requests to the Lord" I'm paraphrasing here, don't have my Bible right with me. God knows.
